The Guardian Print Works occupied a 238,000 sq ft unit on Longbridge Road, part of the Trafford Park site. It was constructed in 1986 and used by the Guardian until January 2018. DTZ Investors bought the building for £7.5m in 2019, with plans to build a 140,000 sq ft warehouse on the seven-acre plot.
Birmingham-based contractor DSM Group were appointed to carry out the demolition of the print works, and they asked us to capture this careful work with our time-lapse cameras. Demolition was completed by February 2021 and you can see the final film below.
Time-lapse can be fantastic for capturing not just demolition, but also construction as well.
