Working in partnership with Oldham Council, the new Royton Leisure Centre was constructed by Willmott Dixon and boasts a six lane, 25 metre swimming pool, an 80 station gym, two spacious studios to host a wide range of exercise classes and more, as well as a learner pool and a 60 space car park.
The new leisure centre signifies an exciting shift in health and fitness for Royton, Shaw, Crompton & Oldham; bringing members of the public brand new state of the art gym, swim, exercise and leisure facilities right to their doorstep.
With over £8 million invested in the project, and a long term plan to deliver excellence in sports and fitness, Royton Leisure Centre will become a central hub for adults and children of all ages and abilities, providing a better and more tailored offering than ever before.
The new fully air conditioned gym will boast a comprehensive range of cardio and resistance training equipment to suit all levels and abilities, as well as built-in TVs on key exercise equipment to make members’ experience more fun and enjoyable.
The two new studios will boast generous floor space, offering people in the area outstanding opportunities to take part in a wide variety of classes, including everything from Yoga, Aerobics and Zumba, right through to HIIT, spinning and Les Mills classes.
Swimmers of all abilities are well catered for too as the new learner pool is perfectly suited to families with children. The brand new six lane, 25 metre pool offers a wide range of public swim sessions, swim classes and the availability for private parties.
All this is backed with OCL’s usual quality approach which ensures that fully trained and qualified staff are always on hand to provide members at the centre with help, advice and guidance on the best ways to achieve their fitness goals in a friendly and personal manner.
The new development is a great step forward for leisure facilities in Oldham, and will bring new jobs to the area, and better leisure and past time activities for people of all ages.
When speaking about the development, Chief Executive of Oldham Community Leisure Stuart Lockwood commented “The development of Royton shows OCL’s commitment to developing superior leisure facilities for the people of Oldham.
“Royton is one of two brand new centres we’ll be opening this year; the second being the stunning new site in Oldham town centre, which will offer very similar facilities to Royton and a vastly improved overall experience for members.”
He continued; “Our team, in partnership with Oldham Council have worked extremely hard over the last few years to bring this project to life, and it’s very rewarding to see the facility coming together so quickly. We’re expecting to launch in late September 2015, and can already sense the anticipation and demand building from existing OCL members in that area.”
